Syrian refugees being limited to women, children and families: report

Canada will only accept women, children and families as it moves to bring 25,000 Syrian refugees into the country by year’s end, according to a report.

The CBC is reporting that, to ease Canadians’ security concerns, the Liberal government will restrict entrants to those three categories.

The terrorist attack on Paris has prompted some to question the election commitment made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to bring in so many newcomers by year’s end, but the Liberals have stuck by the pledge.

Fuller details of the plan are expected to be announced Tuesday, but CBC reports that in the past six weeks, Canadian authorities have been screening about 100 people a day in Lebanon, potentially putting them on tap to meet the commitment.
